THE FUNNIE & THE NOTTIE

Lets start off with the FUNNIE: What Happens in Vegas

To roundhouse everything, this show is a love-comedy starring lead actress Cameron Diaz & actor Ashton. As the title suggests, this as-expected-soon-2-be-together pair coincidentally meet up in Vegas, after being hit by work & love problems. Things then start to go haywire when they end up drunk and crazy on a night.

And somehow someway, they end up winning a 3 million dollar JACKPOT when ASHTON punches a coin in for a round of the slot machines [ They were arguing in front of the slot machine. ]

However, a fierce fight ensues between both parties for some reason [You'll know when you watch it!] and they had it settled in court. So what did the Judge say? Who gets the money? What would both of them have to do?

WATCH IT TO FIND OUT!

Overall Rating: 8 / 10 [ For a love comedy, its sexily great. ]

THE NOTTIE: Over her dead body

Eva Longoria Parker plays the role of a dead spirit (yes, as you imagine floating around in the mortal world) who wants to "protect" her fiance from another lady who is in courtship with him.

And for 3/4 of the show, I would say there is nothing really much besides the typical love talk & shit. Humor, put nicely was acceptable. Crudely? It sucks. I could only draw a faint smile from everything supposedly funny.

Overall Rating: 5.5 / 10

SPEED RACER!

SPEED RACER !!!!!

Okay so I caught this show today afternoon with fungi, thivya, kailim & joanna. I must say that this show is not for everyone. Firstly, it's got a pretty straight-forward genre - Racing, obviously. And there isn't really any scenes of hot babes or hunks making a solo appearance and certainly very little romance value.

WHICH IS WHY I GODDAMN LIKE THIS SHOW!! ( Okay, at least for so far this year this is 1 of the better shows I've had )

To sum 41 everything, this show is basically about speed racing, which runs deep in the blood of the Racer family of the main character, Speed. He desires to take after his brother, Rex Racer who died tragically in a treacherous race that took his life. And as we all expected, Speed becomes the talk of the century after displaying a stunning performance in one of his races.

He immediately draws attention of many big organisations & companies that want to recruit him into their league of racing. He rejects all of them and in the process, rejects a multi-billion company known as Royaltion Industries. This sparks off the story between Speed Racer against Royaltion, as he learns a dark truth...

"WHAT DID HE LEARN?! OMG TELL ME!"

NAH, WATCH THE SHOW YOU CHEAPOS. Recommands Cathay outlets on weekdays with your student pass to enjoy 50 cents off usual price. $6.00 to a great movie!

OVERALL RATING: 7.0 / 10

WARNING: This show is not for people who can't stand extreme imagination & creativity. PRACTICALLY the whole show is made up of the directors' imagination, colourful effects filling the imaginary cities of Royaltion, Grand Prix tracks, parks, streets. AND if you don't like racing, avoid this show. Probably.

So to those fucking monkey brain eaters out there [ including those who slaughter & get a sense of satisfaction devouring "prohibited" animals such as squirrels, dolphins etc. ] PREPARE FOR YOUR AFTERLIFE. AN AFTERLIFE OF SORROWS & PAIN. Rest assure your punishments will be sevenfold of your sins.

DO you believe in retribution? Don't you think that life is on a scale of equilibrium? Weigh down the scale of sins & evil & be sure that the opposite side of rewards & riches will befall too.

Till you remove the weights of sins. I believe it is proportional. That no one gets hold of everything good in life shaking legs.

I do think that certain things in our everyday life could be resulted due to our previous actions. It could be just a minor form of repayment, for something minor that we could have comitted previously. This could be why life has its ups & downs, as people say. I dunno, this is all nothing but my thoughts.

Yes, no one is perfect. We all commit sins, mistakes almost everyday, over & over again. I believe that God who is watching knows how to deal with this & that fairly.

I believe God knows more than often we do not mean what we do, and that it takes time for someone to change for the better.

If you've been wondering what extreme speed musicians ( or rather specifically, DRUMMERS) play their instruments to, here's a little example of a drum tab of Beast & The Harlot using a series of numbers I'll explain later.

Each number actually stands for a certain sound / part on the drumset, for example 36 represents the bass drum's sound made by stepping on the pedal using the feet. Same for 46 & 40.

40 This means that you hit all 3 parts of the drumset in one moment, producing 3 sounds.

The rapid 36-36-36-36 are actually bass sounds produced so quickly it requires 2 feet to VERY rapidly pump 2 pedals. [Watch the drum coverage video by The Rev playing this song & you'll very clearly understand what I mean.]

WHICH MEANS, it is a rapid movement of the legs making the 36-36-36-36 sounds, while the hands come in for the 46-40 sounds. Doesn't seem that hard, no? Yeah, kinda hard to explain...

WELCOME BACK WORLD! Okay, apparently its not just you & me! There are some silent readers on my blog I believe! ( I don't think I viewed my own blog 38 times yesterday and 23 times today...right? Unless the counter is wrong! )

Chelsea vs Man Utd

Battle of 2 biggest soccer powerhouse.
A doubtful 50 / 50 handball

How could Mike Riley make such a call? How sure was he it was a certified handball? half a mind? This isn't a Derby vs Sunderland sunken fight. Such a big stage, I'm sure experience would have told him.

Yes yes, Chelsea fans can scream & shout penalty all they want, while Man Utd fans [ like myself ] can curse & do voodoo on the ref. But all things aside, lets do a partial analysis.

As mentioned above, this is probably the biggest title deciding game [ for Chelsea ] in 5 years to come. For refs & linesmen, every single call they make adversely affects the game one way or another. Free kicks, bookings, advantage play-ons, offsides and MOST importantly, penalties.

Therefore, refs have to be decisive, packed with a quick mind to pinpoint faults on the spot without a debate. Yet Mike Riley CONTEMPLATED on the handball, ON 82 mins, with SO much on stake & allowed game on before raising the flag for a penalty.

How sure was he the handball was certain? That's the query we will never find out.

But all things aside, it was a well played game by both sides & I salute Mikael Silvestre. 6 months off the pitch & he delivered his goods so well in such a big game. Drogba & Essien would have ran so much more havoc if he wasn't present.

Chelsea took their chance in the first half to terrorize an unsettled Man Utd by making lots of runs & attempts on goal. Man Utd manage to fight back in the 2nd half and did take their chances this time round. The injury time clearances by A.Cole & Shev was indeed another decisive moment for the Blues.

Yet after looking @ Man Utd's performance & depth shown in this game, with Tevez & Ron left out, I'm still confident they can secure the title this time round.

WELCOME BACK, GOOD O' BLOG WITH A NEW FRONT, A NEW THEME & A NEW RAGE!

Long time since, hasn't it been? I don't really know why, but I probably just decided to revive my blog again. Don't really know how long it'd last, but then again its just a space for my emotions & thoughts to ventilate. Uh huh, me & the world!

As for the theme of my blog this time round... it was actually inspired from Avenged Sevenfold's "City of Evil" album. Mainly the songs "Beast & the Harlot" and "Bat Country" which are songs I will explain later on. Yeah, the rough idea is about...a city, a town, crime-rates skyrocketing, sinners roaming the streets, corruption rampant,cash & alcohol turning into bread & butter, citizens in a state of desperation. The city's darker side people are blinded too. Something like your Godfather film or movie. How's it? =D

I don't really know where to start my blog from, but I guess I'll go from...MUSIC! Yeah huh, how many of us live on music everyday, that drugs don't matter. Since my blog was pretty much inspired by a band known as Avenged Sevenfold, lemme start with a lil' insight of them!

Alright, I know many would have actually known this globally famous band. However, I'm here to clarify some stuff about them cause like out of 10 people I ask, 7 of them would die rather than listen to A7x.

Avenged Sevenfold got their name from a reference of the Bible, where a man called Cain was sentenced to live in exile for murdering his brother. God then made sure that no one would kill Cain even though he sinned, as the person who did would suffer "VENGEANCE SEVEN TIMES OVER."

A7x is made of a group of friends who more or less knew each other from a young age. M.Shadows & The Rev attended elementary school together, though The Rev was expelled on 2nd grade [Guess what, blessing in disguise.] The Rev also knew Johnny Christ in kindergarten. They range from ages 23-28. They first recorded their songs in 1999, when they were roughly 18 years of age.

YES, they are all normal people like us, normal people who love music, normal people who excel in their instruments, normal people who keep pets and love people around them. They joke around alot, crack up alot & they may have tattoos all over their bodies but hey, who cares? Tattoos are nothing more than a form of art isn't it?

I know, A7x didn't really start off on a very nice note...their first album, "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" was really...not appealing at all. I couldn't stand any of the songs inside except for "Warmness on the Soul" & "Streets". The rest were pure screamo and nothing but screamo.

However, on their 2005 album, "City of Evil" I believe they started gathering an even more massive fanbase. M.Shadows personally stated that he wanted to "achieve an album with little or no screamo". This was the album. Many of their songs in City of Evil & Avenged Sevenfold adopted "aggresive & deep" vocals. Listen carefully, M.Shadows rarely screams. It's just a deeper sound he makes.
Their main hits "Bat Country" & " Beast & the Harlot" really got me attracted to them. The common myth is that metal, hard rock music, alternative / emo have no meaning to their songs. If some fine day, you happen to mis-input "www.cityofsins-n-rock.blogspot.com" into your URL box, you're gonna stop believing that fucked up myth.

Seriously if you ask me, pop music & r&b have the simplest & shallowest lyrics with things like "I can't go on without you" & "I love the way you move" blah blah. Okay but I do love pop, r&b, jazz, soul, punk etc etc. No pun intended!

Just cuz people can't understand what the song is trying to send across, they then assume it is all just a pile of random words and phrases. Let us take for example, Paramore's single hit "Emergency". It is a song talking about a certain member of the band, whose parents took each other's love for granted and ended up in a state of emergency. Who would have known, eh?
As for "Beast & the Harlot", it talks about the punishment of Babylon the Great, which is derived from the Book of Revelation. This song is unique to the core, I assure you.

Their songs range across a very wide genre. Their first album mainly only had screamo & fast metal. Most of us would prefer City of Evil & their latest album Avenged Sevenfold. These albums have hits like "A Little Piece of Heaven" which used melodies of a broadway musical. It also consisted of many instruments & choir sorta mixture.
Another song titled "Dear God" is one of their softest songs to date, with acoustic guitars, piano & light lyrics. They still have their signature fast songs but without screamo and alot more meaning to it. "Brompton Cocktail", "Afterlife", "Trash & Scattered" are some of the many.

Alright, that was a pretty cool insight into A7X, wasn't it! Maybe you'd have an impression change of them after you start listening to their better songs. [ Yes, I said better.]
